2017 Row X Row Wine Notes

2017 Row X Row Rosé

Wine Notes:

Our Grenache grapes were handpicked and left on skins for a mere hour. A cool ferment to dryness preceeded 2 months in old French oak with lees stirring prior to bottling.

The first Rosé for the family - Grenache handpicked from our Manjalda Vineyard. Pale salmon in colour the delicate nose is alive with perfumed aromatics of ripe raspberries, flowering star jasmine and tart strawberries with a hint of cream. The palate is evenly balanced with juicy red fruits and crisp acidity. Subtle flavours of Persian fairy floss, cinnamon and rose water round the wine off beautifully and contribute to the lovely creamy mouth feel. A dry, traditional style that is delightful to drink.

2017 Row X Row Grenache

Wine Notes:

We handpicked our Grenache to allow 30% whole bunches to be left in the open ferment. Lightly plunged for 15 days and matured for 6 months in old French oak before an early bottling.

In another first for us this early, handpicked Grenache is a super fresh and vibrant wine made to be enjoyed in its youth. Its light and bright cherry red colour give rise to a wonderful mix of nutmeg and allspice with summer berries. The palate is brimming with cranberry and plum fruit, savoury tannins and a bewitching wild thyme flavour. The zesty acidity races over the whole palate that finishes cleanly with hints of white pepper and five spice. Made even more delightful when chilled.

Vintage Notes

McLaren vale recorded it's second wettest year on record in 2016, with rainfall not declining in intensity until early February. The cold, rainy and windy weather through winter and spring led to very late flowering. Fortunately the weather conditions during flowering were stable and dry. Disease pressure was elevated during these seasons but a warm and dry late summer into Autumn led to a relatively disease-free vintage. The long and slow ripening period continued through February and March. The fruit had ideal sugar levels and the juice colour and flavour were excellent.
