2011 Block 9 Scarce Earth Shiraz

Specifically from Block 9 on our Redwind vineyard. This wine was crafted for the McLaren Vale Scarce Earth project. An initiative to showcase the vineyard's terroir and its impact on the flavour of Shiraz, with minimal wine making influence. This wine was made as limited release and we have not made any others since.

Our Recommendations:

• Very bright and fresh, doesn't taste like an aged wine
  
• Decant before drinking but not essential
  
• It is a wine under cork and the cork may crumble due to age
• Still drinks beautifully the next day

Vineyard: Block 9 Redwind - McLaren Vale

Age: 10 years

Body: Medium - Full

Colour: Ruby

Nose: Subtle with fresh cranberry

Palate: Savory spice with red fruit characteristics and soft tannin

Notes: Single site wine with minimal new oak influence. Instead we used 4 year old French oak barrels. Bottled separately to highlight the impact of site on the flavour of McLaren Vale Shiraz. A cooler, wetter vintage along with minimal wine making influences gave us red fruit flavours and a lighter than usual Shiraz. Refined and elegant. Drinking well now.
